Former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has today morning been nominated as 2016 presidential candidate.
“I declare Amama Mbabazi a duly nominated candidate for presidential elections 2016,” EC chairman Badru Kiggundu said.
Amama Mbabazi was escorted by his daughter Rachel Mbabazi. His wife couldn’t attend since she is bedridden in a UK hospital.
Mbabazi was proposed to Electoral Commission by Beatrice Anywar and Seconded by Rosette Nsonga.
Mbabazi said that; “Our primary purpose is Uganda achieves peaceful transition of power.”
After his nomination, Mbabazi is expected to address his supporters at Nakivubo stadium.
