Kenya deports Machar’s spokesman
Kenya’s government spokesman has said that a spokesman for the former Vice-President of South Sudan was deported after his “visa was cancelled”.
Eric Kiraithe has told the BBC that James Gatdet Dak was deported to South Sudan’s capital, Juba, on Thursday evening.
The AP news agency says that Mr Gatdet was kicked out of the country for posting comments on Facebook that supported the sacking of a Kenyan commander who was the head of the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.
Lt Gen Kimani Ondieki was dismissed on Tuesday after a UN report revealed that its troops had failed to help aid workers after their compound was attacked in July.
Another rebel spokesman, Mabior Garang, had urged Kenyan authorities not deport Mr Gatdet to South Sudan, saying he would face imminent death, the AP reports.
